What is flexible feeding? Working principle of flexible visual feeding system

With the increasing market demand for various electronic products, flexible feeding and visual systems have become a classic pairing on electronic product production lines. So what is the difference between flexible feeding and traditional vibration tray feeding? What is flexible feeding? How does the visual system work with it?

Flexible feeding refers to the use of a flexible feeding system to screen, position/display products, and provide products for assembly production.

The general principle/process is as follows:

1. First put the product into the flexible vibration tray, and use different vibration/motion modes to quickly move and adjust the product on the tray;

2. The visual system identifies and screens the product;

3. Then send the product coordinates to the robot, and the robot places the product on the assembly line for the next assembly operation, or the staff directly takes it away for assembly.

The main equipment for flexible feeding is the flexible vibration plate. After the product enters the tray, the micro vibration motor under the tray controls the product in various vibration/motion modes such as front and back, left and right, flipping, middle aggregation, and vibration dispersion, so that the product can be arranged according to the internal structure of the tray, or the product can be kept in a state of change, which is ultimately convenient for the visual system to confirm and grab the target, so the combination of the two is very beneficial.

Regarding the visual system, it is composed of light sources, industrial lenses, industrial cameras, visual software, etc.

The general principle/process is as follows:

1. The information of the photographed target is converted into an image signal through an image capture device;

2. After the image signal is digitized, it is analyzed and processed by the image processing system to obtain the shape, position, size and other information of the photographed target;

3. According to the characteristic information of these photographed targets, measurement, positioning, detection or identification are carried out to make the final judgment and decision, and the system controls the on-site equipment to perform corresponding actions.

Therefore, through the above explanation, we understand the benefits of flexible feeding and vision system. Although flexible feeding is a good feeding assistant, it is also focused on the bulk arrangement and feeding of small and medium-sized parts in industrial automation production, including special-shaped parts, thin sheets, precision plastic parts, small metal parts, and easily damaged parts. It is also of no benefit if it is a medium or large part.
